- Who We Are
Founded on May 19, 1989, Champions Children’s Centre has been a trusted pillar of early childhood education in Flemingdon Park for over 35 years. Our journey began with a vision to create a nurturing, inclusive, and high-quality childcare environment that supports the diverse needs of families in our community. From our humble beginnings with a single preschool room for 16 children and a school-age program serving 26, we have steadily expanded in response to the growing demand for accessible childcare. In time, we introduced a kindergarten program and expanded our school-age program to accommodate even more families. Today, we continue to evolve, ensuring that we meet the needs of children and families through innovative programming, culturally responsive care, and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
Deep Roots in Flemingdon Park
Our deep understanding of the Flemingdon Park community has shaped our approach to early childhood education. As a vibrant, multicultural neighborhood, Flemingdon Park presents unique opportunities and challenges, including the need for affordable, high-quality childcare that reflects the cultural diversity of its residents. Champions Children’s Centre has worked closely with families for decades, gaining valuable insights into their experiences and ensuring that our programs remain relevant, accessible, and enriching.
Commitment to Equity, Inclusion & Community Engagement
Equity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. We recognize and actively work to address systemic barriers that impact underserved communities, particularly immigrant, refugee, and low-income families. Our culturally responsive approach fosters strong, trusting relationships with families, ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and supported in their learning journey. We believe that family involvement is key to a child’s success, which is why we prioritize ongoing communication, collaboration, and community engagement.
Proven Track Record & Capacity for Growth
Champions Children’s Centre has a well-established reputation for excellence in early childhood education. Our experienced leadership, dedicated team of educators, and strong operational systems have allowed us to successfully expand our services over the years. We have a long-standing waitlist for infant and toddler spaces, reflecting the urgent demand for additional childcare in our community. Despite space limitations within our current location, we have continuously sought opportunities to grow and serve more families.
Our workforce is another key strength—our experienced supply educators are well-integrated into our organization’s culture and practices, allowing us to scale our team effectively as we expand. This ensures stability and continuity in our programs, providing families with the highest standards of care and education.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, Champions Children’s Centre remains dedicated to our mission of providing high-quality, inclusive, and culturally responsive early childhood education. We are committed to expanding our reach to support even more families, ensuring that all children in Flemingdon Park have access to the care, learning, and opportunities they deserve.
